How to get the most out of your workday

In addition to achieving the Flow State, there are other ways to get even more out of your workday and boost your productivity, such as:

Plan your day the night before 

Spend just a few minutes laying out your clothes and planning your day. It will make you feel much more prepared in the morning! You might also want to set aside time for leisure activities; things like cooking something nice for dinner or reading a book can be great ways of unwinding after work.

Eat breakfast to help you stay focused and energised 

A healthy breakfast will help you stay focused and energised. Try a protein shake, eggs with whole-wheat toast, or fruit smoothies to start your day off right!

Take a break in the middle of working on something complex or long-term 

Take a few moments to stretch, take some deep breaths or just relax. It may not seem like much at the time, but it will help you feel better and more refreshed when you get back to your work!

Be efficient – use shortcuts, automate tasks and set timers for breaks 

  • Use shortcuts in your word processor or a to-do list app for jobs that you repeat often 
  • Automate repetitive tasks, like checking and responding to emails. It will help you focus on the more creative parts of your job!
  • Some people find the Pomodoro Technique, developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, helpful. The Pomodoro Technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks.

Set deadlines for yourself so that you don’t procrastinate too much 

If you have a project that’s due in two weeks, for example, set the deadline on your calendar right now. If necessary, break down big projects into smaller steps to be more achievable and time sensitive. Remember: small tasks can still feel daunting at first!

Make sure to take care of your health as well by exercising regularly and getting enough sleep every night

Create a dedicated workspace
